A remix by Dr. M

Welcome, this is my latest gaming project. A remake of one of my favourite fighting games, Brutal: Paws of fury.
Imagine playing this great classic with special moves, super moves, counter attacks and a lot of surprises...

This game was possible thanks to the revolutionary MUGEN game engine by Elecbyte.
Visit the GAME INFO section for a quick overview. You can see some SCREENSHOTS before going to the DOWNLOAD section.
Don't forget to see the CREDITS section, all this people helped me with the project.

VOICE ACTORS LIST
The upcoming version of Brutal Remix is going to feature... VOICES!!!
That's right, like the serious fighting games. As you can see, half of the voices are already recorded.

I also cleaned up the list. So, if you wanted to act a character who was already confirmed, now it's your chance to show your talent. The first person who sends me a good sample of a character's voice is automatically selected as an actor. This will make things easier and gives people more chances to act their favourite character.
So, hurry up,
e-mail me, grab a mike and just be Brutal!

Where's the Doctor??
Sorry to get your hopes up, but this is the server administrator. I'm asking anyone who knows how to contact DoctorM to drop me an email (darkmane -at- harmlesslion.com). I haven't heard from him in over two years now. His stuff, especially Brutal, still generates over 700MB a day in traffic. I don't really mind, but I'd like to know what he's up to! (And hey, I want to see updates too ;) ).

The forum is moving!
Since this site is now a part of Digital Mind Games, I'll make it's forum the official one. You'll be able to keep discussing Brutal stuff there. Please excuse the lack of responses from me, I've been very busy.
You can discuss in the new forum HERE.

I encourage you to support the author of Brutal Remix, by going to DMG, playing the games and having fun!

See ya!

Good news!
Besides Brutal, I worked on other game projects. You can see my summer works in the brand new site:

http://dmg.harmlesslion.com

Right now there are two games, feel free to take a look!

And not so good news... Elecbyte didn't update their site yet, and I am no longer working on Brutal. Because of some productions I am working on, I had to install Win2K, so I can't run Mugen, or work on Brutal by now.

If WinMugen is released, or if all the voice actors complete the dialogues pending, I will resume work on the project.

Please visit the new site, play the games and have fun!
(maybe an upcoming game could be related to Brutal...)
See ya!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

I'm sorry I'm late, I was celebrating...

There was little progress in the game, due to personal issues.
I'll be adding more material to this site the next weekend, and all your contributions are always welcome.

Well, I hope all your christmas and new year wishes come true.
See ya!

First of all, If you e-mailed me this month and received no answer, you should know I changed my e-mail adress. I'm sorry I didn't tell you before, but my internet access is very limited.
My new e-mail is this one, I updated all the links to my mail.

OK, new month, new section.
I arranged a set of gif animations. There are also super move animations in slow-motion. Some moves look very cool.
Take a look at the Misc section.

There are two brand new sprite comics by Mottman waiting for you at the Fan Art section.

Well, I hope you have fun with the new contents. I have finals the next week so I'll be busy...
See ya!

Hi!
I've been quite busy this month, some exams and stuff.
But I had a weekend of free time, and I learned some Visual Pinball programming. If you don't know about it, go here:

http://ww.visualpinball.com

So, I decided to actually make an original table...

tnpinball.jpg (66971 bytes)

I'm not very good with VBScript, but the table works.
Check it out at the MISC page.

By the way, I fixed some bugs in the Remix, tweaked some minor stuff, etc. Making the pinball table helped me relax while waiting for the new Mugen for Windows.

Well, tell me if you liked it!
Have fun!

I fixed some gameplay issues, some infinites and added some color palettes. Go to the download section and get the patch.

Also, Mottman recorded a cool movie of Rhei. Go to the misc section to get it.

Have fun!

BRUTAL 1.9b RELEASED!!!

Yes, It's true, no joke.
I want you to test the new gameplay, and tell me what do you think of it. Go to the download section to get it, or go see some screenshots here.

This release includes:

- The 12 characters, fully playable with all of their moves
- At least 3 Special and Super moves for every character
- New gameplay (combo system, brutal counter, etc.)
- New graphic FX
- New frames for every character
- Added colors to EVERY frame of each character
- New title, select, vs screens

What will be in the final version:

- Belt system with password (being fine-tuned)
- Voices (when all of the characters are done)
- Original Soundtrack (being made now)
- New backgrounds
- Animated intro
- A new announcer (in case you are wondering, that voice in the beta is mine :-)
- Some surprises

Keep in mind this is a beta, there are some details I know they are there. Hitspark placement, some special and supermove behaviour, etc.
I'm still using an old beta of Elecbyte's Mugen engine. I wanted to release this game as an addon to their engine. Since they don't make available the DOS version at their site, that forces me to distribute this expired beta of the engine with my game.

Please, let me know what you think of it, some things (like all the recolored sprites) took a lot of time and effort.
Post your thoughts in the forum, or email me.

I'm sorry if I keept you waiting so long, I had very little time to dedicate to the project these months. Right now I'm producing dance music again, and some of my songs are for the game sountrack.

Well, I'm in a hurry now.
I hope you enjoy the game.
Good luck.

Since basically I'm waiting for Elecbyte's Windows engine and/or the voice actors to finish the game properly, I dedicated most of this month's free time to play the original game.

I recorded 8 movies in ZMV format, beating the game (or at least getting to the last battle) with every character of the SNES version. Some of the fights are very cool.

I also made a colors chart. Now you can compare the original and alternate colors of every character in different console/computer versions.

I didn't know where to put all of this new material, so I created the MISC section!

I hope you enjoy the movies. And if you are considering making some of your own, send them and show your skills to the world!

Also, the monthly episode of the FanFic is available at the Art section. Enjoy!

See ya!

Hi everybody!!!
It's been a tough month this one...

First of all, my Pentium3 550Mhz died all of the sudden. So now I'm working with my brother's machine (at 233Mhz). I'm not having major problems developing the game, but multitrack audio recording and other personal stuff are very slow now :-(

Then, I couldn't afford the phone bill, so no more internet at home. I still can check e-mail, but only once or twice a week at a friend's house. I hope you now understand the reason of the delay of my responses.

After all of that, I had some exams to make my life even happier :-( and today I'm enjoying my first free time of these weeks.

No, none of these problems stopped me from developing the game. I'm now quite excited, Elecbyte updated their page with another version, so a windows version will come soon...

The ART section was updated with the monthly episode of the Transformers FanFic, check it out.

Well, I'll continue working on the final battle with Dali Llama.
Good luck everyone!

Happy Birthday Brutal

On 10-march-2000 the remix of my favourite game was released. They were two months of hard work, and the game came up beautifully.
I continued updating it, but soon the game grew so much that I decided to release it when it was completed, and now that day is getting closer.

Here is a brief completion list of the project. Some terms are related to the Mugen engine:
- Character GFX (SFF) - 100%
- Character code (moves, supers, etc.) - 95%
- Character special code (score, belts, etc) - 80%
- Character balance (poweradds, juggle, damage) - 75%
- Screenpack (menus, title, etc.) - 75%
- Animated intro - 90%
- Backgrounds - A lot of them, I still don't know how many will be on the final ver.
- Bonus stage - 50%
- Voices - 7 of 12 (this doesn't depend on me)
- Soundtrack - 30%

Don't worry about the soundtrack, that will be the funniest part, and can be done real quick.

Also, Scott wrote two episodes of his FanFic. Check them out in the ART section.
