Dinobots Strike Back Part 4
Paul Phoenix leaves Julia Chang
in the submercible and swims around towering pillars of crimson coral, then
through a forest of giant kelp. In front of the black coral he is
approached by a school of dolphins which circles around him trying to
play. Phoenix is delighted and wishes he could stay awhile, but he knows
his mission is more important. So he gives the boldest dolphin a friendly
pat and swims past him to the reef. As he breaks off a chunk of black
coral...KABOOM!!!
PAUL PHOENIX
Hoooooly s***!!! <Gasps
in horror>
As he feels the
explosion he realized too late that the coral was booby-trapped! Tossed up
and down by churning water, Phoenix is helpless when the shockwaves hits.
He struggles to break free but he's caught in a whirlpool that sucks him down
along with huge pieces of broken coral. When the water clears Julia cannot
see Paul anywhere. The dolphins frightened by the noise, have also
disappeared. Chang drives the submercible over to the reef and sees that
Phoenix has been trapped in a deep coral canyon. Julia cannot leave the
cabin without underwater gear so she can't clear away the pillars that are
trapping her friend. She could head for the channel where she might be
able to radio Helga Sinclair for help. But the channel is 5 miles away and
Chang does not know if Phoenix is hurt or what might happen if she leaves him
alone.
Julia frowns in concentration
trying to think of how to help Paul when suddenly she notices...
JULIA CHANG
What-the? Dolphins,
where did they come from?
One by one she sees the
dolphins return gliding gracefully through the giant kelp near the black coral
reef. The boldest dolphin swims over to the window of the submercible and
peers in. He knocks on the glass with his nose. Looking out the
window Julia sees that the leader is swimming through the coral pillars that
have fallen over the canyon where Phoenix is trapped. Suddenly Chang's
face lights up as she gets an idea. Using the computer she might be able
to decode the dolphin language and ask them to rescue Phoenix.
JULIA CHANG
It's a long shot. But
it's worth the risk to save my partner. Or should I radio Helga???
But then it could be too late!
Julia sits down at the
console and asks the computer to analyze the clicks & high-pitched whistles
coming from the dolphins. 5 mins later the computer has figured 100 basic
words.
JULIA CHANG
I only hope this works.
<Tuns the sonar equipment to its highest frequency> Here goes nothing.
<She taps out a greeting>
The dolphins stop what
they are doing and turn toward the sub. Quickly, Julia asks them to rescue
Phoenix. The intelligent creatures understand and swim over to the top of
the canyon where Paul disappeared. The 3 largest dolphins push aside the
coral pillars that are trapping Phoenix but...THERE'S NO SIGN OF
HIM!
JULIA CHANG
Oh no! Where is
he? Where did he go?!! <Panics>
She has no idea where
Phoenix disappeared to...either he's already dead or worse!!! While she
continues searching, trying to figure where he went to in the meantime Phoenix
finds himself inside an underwater tunnel. Stunned, dazed by the
after-effects of the explosion the street fighter wonders where the h*** he
is.
PAUL PHOENIX
How did I wind up
here? What is this place, where am I???
So he begins walking
through the dark passageway and before long the tunnel slants upward and finds
himself only waist-deep in water. Up ahead he sees a doorway which must
lead to another chamber beyond.
PAUL PHOENIX
Hmmm, now what have we here?
<Says to himself> Do I open this door or do I not open this door. <Then
suddenly he hears voices> Uh-oh, who's that?
Phoenix steps warily up
to the doorway. He thinks he recognizes the voice of Archer the gorgonyte
warrior and leader of the Syndicate coming from the other side of the
door.
ARCHER
In just a few short hours we
will vanquish our enemies. The energy plant will be finished by
nightfall. And with the superfuel processed from black coral growing
underwater at our very door we will be utterly invincible.
The mutants cheer and
yell victorious. Meanwhile Phoenix sneaks off. He wants to return to
the sub but has no idea where it is or how to find it again. He decides to
radio just to be safe and speaks into his morpher comlink.
PAUL PHOENIX
Julia, Julia, come in.
Hello? <No answer> Chang, are you out there? <Still no answer> Where
is she?!!
Suddenly a deep voice
booms from behind him startling the street fighter.
MEWTWO
Don't move! Surrender
Ranger spy!
